G7 accused Russia of sending troops to the border with Ukraine in huge numbers.
Ukraine's border commanders accused Russia of gathering about 85,000 troops near the Ukrainian border, some just 10km from Ukraine. Russian activities forced the G7 group to speak up on April 12.

Foreign ministers of the G7 countries have issued a joint statement expressing concern about the movement of Russian forces near Ukraine. A joint statement issued by the British Foreign Ministry describes Russia's large-scale troop and arms movements "without warning as a threatening and destabilizing act".
