COVID-19 update, April 6: Infections on the rise in Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand

COVID-19 infections are on the rise in parts of Southeast Asia. Indonesia has recorded more than 200 new cases -- its biggest single day increase so far. The total number of cases stands at nearly 2,500, with 209 deaths. President Joko Widodo has reiterated his call for Indonesians to wear face masks. He had previously rejected calls to lockdown cities, saying it would hurt the poor the most. Meanwhile, the Philippines has announced more than 400 new cases and 11 new deaths. The country now has 3,660 cases and 163 deaths. Thailand has reported 51 new coronavirus cases -- including 13 medical personnel -- and three more deaths.
