The storied history of 3M is reflected in more than our product history ? it comes through in the history of our logo. The company started as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing in 1902 with a simple goal of harvesting a mineral known as corundum from a mine in northern Minnesota.

Ultimately, the mine didn't produce corundum, but something more important was born that year: the spirit of innovation and collaboration that forms the foundation of today's 3M.
